Bane Blisters Pinar Del Rio Monday, September 18th , 2147 There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Sam Bane of the Austin Grackles had one such moment at Express Park today, when he went 5 for 7 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Austin fell to a 7-5 defeat to the Pinar Del Rio Vegueros. "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 27-year-old center fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game." Sam Bane singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and hit a solo-shot off Guy Arnoux in the 15th. In 131 games this year Bane has posted a .242 average and put up these numbers: 8 home runs, 60 RBIs and 46 runs scored. |
