Funga Swings for the Cycle Sunday, May 28th , 2147 Some days, a great game just isn't enough. Zaki Funga of the Goiania Toucans found that out the hard way today. Funga had a great day at the plate, pounding out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and hitting for the cycle, but watched the Naperville Pubcrawlers take a 9-5 victory. "It is a frustrating feeling to know you did so much and still lost," the 21-year-old second baseman said later. "But it is a feeling you have to get used to if you want to play baseball for very long. It just happens." Funga had 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run, as well as 3 RBI and 2 runs scored in the contest. Zaki Funga doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Francisco García in the 8th. So far in 2147 Funga is batting .282 with 1 home run, 15 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 42 hits in 149 at-bats and a .365 OBP. |
