5-Hit Game for Ransford Thursday, August 10th , 2147 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Les Ransford, it came around today. The 23-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Ballpark of Naperville to pace the Naperville Pubcrawlers to a 31-7 victory over the Ponce Coqui. Ponce skipper told reporters in the press room that "Ransford deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ransford hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Les Ransford hit a solo-shot off Octávio Cicia in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 8th. Ransford is hitting .271 so far this season with 55 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has 105 hits including 12 home runs, 49 walks and .356 OBP. |
