Runggaldier Spins Masterpiece, No-Hits Zapopan
Friday, June 23rd , 2147
The Plano Rancheros were just hoping for a solid outing from Galterio Runggaldier. Instead, they got something special.
The 23-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Zapopan Aztecs, helping the Rancheros take the 8-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Rancheros. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Runggaldier's repertoire has a slider, curveball, forkball, cutter, and changeup, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Zapopan hitters off balance all game long. The Plano hurler fanned 6 and walked 4 in his history-making performance.
"His slider looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Zapopan manager joked after the game.
This season Runggaldier has crafted a 6-2 mark with a 2.68 ERA in 74 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .202 against him and he has 83 strikeouts.
