Santo Domingo

Word leaked out from Santo Domingo today that local legend and beloved hero John Pottle came back to the Palmchat training facilities in bad shape. His skills have eroded to the point that he can't be played in the field, and with his bat also degraded it seems that the club may assign him to the minor leagues once the season gets underway. The organization previously did this with Gareth Pollock in an effort to have the veteran mentor young prospects on the way up through the farm system. It goes without saying, of course, that Palmchat management does hold out hope that this move prompts an early retirement from Pottle which was a pleasant surprise to their finances when it happened with Pollock.

Pottle is on the books for $11M in both 2111 and 2112. His career 0.348 batting average and 2,017 hits are both ABL and WBA records as he is currently the only member of the 2,000 hit club. Pottle is a two-time WBA Championship Series winner as well as two-time ABL Position Player of the Year. Most observers consider him a lock for the Hall of Fame as soon as he's eligible (and as soon as balloting opens).
