Puerto Rico Beaten, 5-3, by Havana
|
Ballpark of San Juan was the site of a competitive game between the Puerto Rico Coqui and Havana Dolphins.
Havana pitcher Yoshifusa Hasegawa had a large part in his team beating the Puerto Rico Coqui, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 8 innings, Hasegawa surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Kwan-yew Lei, his 5th.
Havana used the timely hitting of Abdul-Wahhab bin Idris to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dolphins on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Yoshifusa answered the bell," said Havana manager Dan Farnell.
Havana, now 9-3, is setting the league on fire so far.
