|
Sao Paulo parlayed a decent outing from starter Alfonso Vásquez into a solid win over the Santo Domingo Palmchats. The final score was 5-3. Vásquez yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-1. Anthony Dalton earned the save, his 2nd, for the Toucans.
Baskoro Kartodirdjo had a big 2-run double for the Toucans in the bottom of the third inning. With Sao Paulo leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Tin Trieu and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Toucans ahead, 5-1.
"This was a good win," said Kartodirdjo.
The loss drops Santo Domingo to 7-6.
