Havana used a superb performance from starting pitcher Mathieu Richet to down the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars, 4-1. Havana is off to a hot start at 10-3.

Eudaldo Eslava went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for Havana. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Eslava, who is a three-time Defender of the Year Award winner, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Rio de Janeiro hurler Murtadi bin Jabbar, he struck out to give the Dolphins a 2-1 lead.

"Mathieu pitched his heart out," said Havana manager Dan Farnell.
