Los Angeles right-hander Larry Murdoch helped his team edge Rio de Janeiro by the score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Murdoch kept the opposing lineup in check. Los Angeles reliever Clodio Castanhedo picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Luis Gutiérrez was tagged with the loss. Rio de Janeiro is 11-8 after the loss.

The decisive blow was delivered by Premysl Rabl in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 35-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Gutiérrez to win the game for Los Angeles. The home crowd went nuts.

"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Rabl.
