Riding the 3-hit performance of the 25-year old center fielder Samir bin Umar, the Puerto Rico Coqui stopped the El Paso Thunderbirds, 11-1. Awinagh Ezeamaka picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 10. On the season, he is now 3-1. The Thunderbirds, now 4-15, continue their slow start.

Puerto Rico right fielder Kamasrama Shourov contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Coqui ahead, 1-0.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," bin Umar told the Puerto Rico Observer.
