Beijing Beaten, 6-3, by Rome
|
Beijing got a decent performance from pitcher Man-u Yo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Rome Generals. Rome won the The Colosseum contest, 6-3. Yo threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Rome reliever John Collier picked up the win to move to 2-0. Gregor Finlater suffered the loss. Getting the save was Roberto Lugo, his 6th.
Yong-zhan Chien drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Rome. The 2146 Rookie of the Year Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Gregor Finlater. It was his 1st walk of the season.
Rome manager Tx Horns commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
Beijing, with the loss, is still a stout 15-6.
