Bill Horne pitched well, but his team, the Cairo Pharaohs, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the Beijing Emperors at The Bird's Nest. Chong-yee Ming, who is a three-time All-Star, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Bill Horne. Gregor Finlater was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.

Njoroge Sarahani hit a run-scoring double off Héctor Leal in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Emperors in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Sarahani had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Cairo skipper J Stell, "and it cost us."

Beijing, now 16-7, has gotten their season off to a good start.
