Dolphins Overwhelm Thunderbirds, 15-3
|
The Havana Dolphins and El Paso Thunderbirds completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Havana Dolphins handed the El Paso Thunderbirds a sound defeat, 15-3, at Thunderdome. Feng Sheng, who is tied for 9th in the ABL with a .947 OPS, was a main contributor to the win. He was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for Havana. José Torres got the win, improving to 3-0. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 5.
Havana used the hitting of Hansakaya Sampath to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Dolphins on top, 4-0. For the game, Sampath had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Sheng after the game.
The Thunderbirds, now 5-19, continue their poor start.
