Rome Edges Meteors, 8-7, Song Clutch
|
The Rome Generals defeated the Melbourne Meteors, 8-7, at The Colosseum. Rome right fielder Jin-oh Song had a superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Kigeri Muroki earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Roberto Lugo finished to wrap up his 7th save.
Had Dharr bin Suhayb not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, bin Suhayb hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Generals.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Song told the Rome Herald.
Melbourne is now 14-10.
