Melbourne pitcher Tadasu Hirose did his part in helping his team beat the Beijing Emperors, 6-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 7 innings, Hirose surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. The defeat makes Beijing 17-10.

With two out in the top of the seventh, Bobby Wheeler had a game-changing hit. The Meteors third baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Daniel Jahnet, making the score 3-1, Melbourne.
