Palmchats Pull Out Late Win, 2-1
|
Well, that's how to end a game in style.
Santo Domingo turned a good performance from starting pitcher Shih-k'ai Tseng into a 2-1 triumph over the El Paso Thunderbirds in 10 innings at Estadio Santo Domingo. The win went to Carlos López in relief, making him now 1-3. Masashige Ota took the loss for El Paso.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Santo Domingo left fielder Jack Mitchell, facing Masashige Ota, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Palmchats the 2-1 win.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Mitchell.
The Thunderbirds, now 8-21, continue their poor start.
