Aztecs Stay Hot With 4-1 Win
|
Starting pitcher Enreecko Vergara was a major factor in the 4-1 Mexico City Aztecs triumph over the Chicago Beefs. Vergara, now 6-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With their winning streak at 7, the Aztecs have raced to a strong start this season.
Mexico City used the timely hitting of Ignacio Padilla to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Aztecs on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Mexico City manager Square Drive.
