Emperors Victors, 5-2, at Daegu
|
Spirited fans greeted the Daegu Monks for their clash with the Beijing Emperors.
The Beijing Emperors beat the Daegu Monks, 5-2, at Monks Stadium. The win was due in part to left fielder Josh Bence, who was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the win was Wei-fang Cheng. He went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 11 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 1.
Bence contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Beijing in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Bence took a screwball from Octávio Díaz and stroked the home run to center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Emperors to leap in front, 4-2.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Bence.
With the win, Beijing lifts its record to 20-11.
