|
In a low-scoring contest, Chicago pitcher Patrick Widhoezl was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. Chicago is now 18-14, while Mexico City is 22-10.
There was more than one reason the Beefs beat the Aztecs, but Widhoezl's big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Widhoezl.
