Pharaohs Clip Fleur-de-Lis, 4-3
|
The Cairo Pharaohs withstood a fine game by Paris third baseman Caspar Stone at Stade de France, to upend the Fleur-de-Lis, 4-3. Stone went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. Carlos Mitchinson closed the game out for Cairo, earning his 7th save. Cairo is now 18-15. Paris is 19-14.
Cairo used a clutch at-bat from Shojiro Jouda to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Pharaohs ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
After the game, Cairo manager J Stell applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
