Foxes Drop Another One, 8-2
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Rome-Black Forest ballgame.
The Rome Generals defeated the Black Forest Foxes, 8-2, at The Den. Rome was led by 26-year old shortstop Ismael Esparza, who went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Carlos Rúbio, the winner, is now 3-2. He struck out 5 and walked 0 over 6 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits.
With Rome leading 3-0 in the top of the sixth, Esparza hit a 2-run single off Black Forest hurler António Colón. It was the 36th hit of the season for Esparza and put his team ahead, 5-0.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Esparza.
The second-place Generals have won 4 in a row.
