Pharaohs Suffer 3-1 Home Defeat
|
The Oslo Voyageurs earned a close win over the Cairo Pharaohs, thanks in part to Yoshifusa Hasegawa. The Oslo right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the IBL with a 0.91 WHIP, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Hasegawa yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-1. Cosmo Laureano, who led the IBL in saves with 50 last year, earned the save for Oslo.
Oslo used the hitting of Joris Steinem to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Voyageurs on top, 2-1. For the game, Steinem had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Steinem attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
Oslo is now 28-5, 9 games up in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division.
