Palmchats Pick Up 3-2 Road Win Over Sao Paulo
|
Santo Domingo and Sao Paulo played a hard-fought contest.
In a tight tilt between the Santo Domingo Palmchats and the Sao Paulo Toucans, Jaime Torres was the deciding factor. The Santo Domingo right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winner was Torres. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Øivind Ulland. Félix Soto nailed down his 2nd save.
Santo Domingo used a clutch at-bat from Carl Carter to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Palmchats ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Santo Domingo manager Huck L. Berry said.
Santo Domingo, with the win, is 3-1.
