Odílio Pilar did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Beefs from being beaten, 6-5, to the Mexico City Aztecs at Beefs Stadium. Pilar went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Mexico City raised its record to 20-15 with the win.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Urtilan Cheromei? The two-time All-Star Cheromei stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Mexico City up, 6-5. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"I still think this team can play even better," Cheromei told the Mexico City Chronicle.
