Pharaohs Roll Past Fleur-de-Lis, 8-0
|
Cairo beat Paris on the strength of starting pitcher Chinh Tran-Dinh's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 8-0. Tran-Dinh picked up the win for Cairo, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 6-8. The Pharaohs, at 38-41, sit in second place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division.
Avatsara Kesiraju had a big bases-clearing double for the Pharaohs in the bottom of the second inning. With Cairo leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Iván López, who is tied for 10th in the IBL with a 7.6 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pharaohs ahead, 5-0.
"Chinh pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Cairo manager J Stell.
