Meteors C Escobedo has 4 hits in Win
|
The Melbourne Meteors handed the Black Forest Foxes a loss at The Den. The final score was 10-6. Juan Escobedo was one of the major contributors for Melbourne. In addition to his 3 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. Raúl Aguilar, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. Max Schmalzl earned the save for Melbourne, his 2nd.
Melbourne relied on the hitting of Wattas Mwenda to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Meteors on top, 10-6. For the game, Mwenda had 1 triple and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.
"We played hard and won," said Escobedo. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The last-place Foxes have lost 7 straight games.
