Chicago registered a win at Beefs Stadium by beating the Puerto Rico Coqui, 2-1. Pitcher Yoshitoshi Murata was one reason why the Beefs triumphed. Murata, now 5-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Beefs.

The Coqui had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Beefs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old third baseman Gebre Batrawi came to the plate. Batrawi hit a solo home run on a 2-1 fastball from Puerto Rico hurler Ignaty Ivanenkov. It was Batrawi's 8th home run of the year.

"Yoshitoshi did what Yoshitoshi does," said Chicago manager Dill On.
