Coqui Lose to Thunderbirds in Walk-Off
Thunderdome played host to some real drama.

The timely hitting of Gianpaolo Belmondo helped the El Paso Thunderbirds take down the Puerto Rico Coqui, 5-4, in 10 innings. Belmondo belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Thunderbirds. The win hiked the El Paso record to 23-13.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, fan favorite Tien Dung Long had a real shot to win the game. Puerto Rico pitcher Ottavio Grassi was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Long hit a run-scoring single. The Thunderbirds had a walk-off triumph.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Belmondo. "I like it."
