Monks Rally Late to Nip Meteors
The Daegu Monks picked up a win, 4-3, over the Melbourne Meteors at Monks Stadium. Marcos Escamilla led the charge. The Mexico City, Distrito Federal de México native was 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for Daegu. Reliever Dodek Wolotka picked up the win. His record improves to 3-7. Tymon Mavrokordatos, who is tied for 9th in the IBL in saves with 10, took the loss. The Monks raised their record to 31-53.

Jay Samelo was 2 for 3 with a double for Daegu. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tymon Mavrokordatos. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
