Generals Drop 5-3 Decision to Emperors
|
The Beijing Emperors locked up a win at The Bird's Nest, knocking off the Rome Generals, 5-3. On the mound for Beijing was left-hander Érico Caramelo. He played a major role in the triumph. Caramelo, now 5-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Beijing bumps their record to 57-29 with the win.
In the top of the ninth, Cheng-ho Tieh stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Generals were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Gia-Long Hoang made a terrific pitch and Tieh lined out. Gone was the dream of a Rome comeback.
