Thunderbirds Score Late, Upend Beefs, 6-3
|
Starting pitcher Tien Dung Long pitched well enough to help the El Paso Thunderbirds beat the Chicago Beefs, 6-3. Long yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-5. Timothy Adamczak picked up his 19th save of the season.
El Paso used a timely hit from Bernard Salle to get the win. The shortstop stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Salle.
The Thunderbirds now own a record of 41-47.
