The Melbourne Meteors soundly defeated the Beijing Emperors, 11-1, at Meteor Crater. Artie Riley, who finished 3rd in the IBL in triples with 9 in 2149, let his bat do the talking. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for Melbourne. The third-place Meteors have a record of 42-46.
Riley contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Melbourne in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Riley took a cutter from Man-u Yo and stroked the home run to right. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Meteors to leap in front, 2-1.
Beijing manager Kev In called the blowout loss "a real bummer."
