Weke drives in 5 runs, Leads Fitzies to Win
|
The Tokyo Fitzies handed the Daegu Monks a loss at Monks Stadium. The final score was 9-6. Major production was provided by Julian Weke for Tokyo. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 5. He also added 1 walk. Gustave Le Floch, who is tied for 5th in the IBL in wins with 8, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Britt Leonard recorded the save, his 30th.
With Tokyo trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Weke hit a cutter from Raúl Arce for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Fitzies ahead, 5-2.
"Their at-bats were really impressive against us," said losing manager R Beadle.
Tokyo, at 53-37, holds down second place in the Intercontinental Baseball League Asian Division.
