The Monks faced a stiff challenge from Beijing pitcher Tse-peng Huang, but persevered to claim a win at The Bird's Nest. The final score was 2-1. Huang went 7.2 innings and allowed no runs. Daegu reliever Dodek Wolotka was the winner. His record is now 5-8. The losing pitcher was Gia-Long Hoang. The save went to Mehari Youssef, his 4th this season.

Carlos Chávez, who leads the IBL in stolen bases with 36, came through for Daegu with a solo home run in the top of the ninth. The third baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 1 run batted in.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Chávez.

The 'W' lifts Daegu's record to 34-58.
