Long Makes 300 Mark
It was a great day for Tien Dung Long, but not a good one for his El Paso Thunderbirds. The 34-year-old starting pitcher reached a personal milestone with his 300th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Stars, who came away with a 6-1 victory. Long finished the day with 2 hits, 1 run batted in and 1 run scored.

"Well, I've conceded the fact that you can't will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate."

Thus far in his career, Long has 171 victories and 139 defeats with a 4.03 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .261 average.
