The Santo Domingo Palmchats downed the Sao Paulo Toucans, 8-1, at Toucans Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Jaime Torres had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is a ten-time All-Star, handcuffed his opponent all game. The Palmchats improved to 47-57.

In his 118-pitch effort, Torres allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 8.2 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 4.

"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Casey Blake DeWitt.
