The Puerto Rico Coqui downed the Rio de Janeiro Jaguars, 8-0, at Ballpark of San Juan. Stellar pitching by Sher Rathore had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the ABL with a 2.77 ERA, handcuffed his opponent all game. In 6.2 innings, Rathore surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Puerto Rico leads the Americas Baseball League Latin American Division by 2½ games.

Doug Marshall had a big 3-run home run for the Coqui in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Puerto Rico leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Murtadi bin Jabbar, who is tied for 2nd in the ABL in strikeouts with 53, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Coqui ahead, 4-0.
