Generals Mow Down Fleur-de-Lis, 9-2
|
In the 9-2 Rome win over Paris, the impact of Pancho Castillo was substantial. Castillo, who finished 5th in the ABL in doubles with 41 in 2144, was 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Naomi Matsunaga got the win, improving to 4-2. He held the Fleur-de-Lis to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The Generals go to 21-17, putting them second in the Intercontinental Baseball League Afro-European Division.
The Generals got a big hit from left fielder Maks Manahov. Facing Paris pitcher Jesús Moreno in the bottom of the fifth, Manahov pounded a bases-clearing double to right. His 10th double of the season put the Generals ahead, 8-1.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Jus L. Hart.
