Late Rally by Emperors Locks Up 5-3 Win
|
Tokyo got a terrific performance from pitcher Izaac Kulovana, but it wasn't enough to beat the Beijing Emperors. Beijing won the Fitzies Stadium contest, 5-3. Kulovana threw 8.0 innings allowing 5 runs for the losing team. The winner was Bing-zhang Chin in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Izaac Kulovana took the loss. The first-place Emperors hiked their record to 71-39.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Njoroge Sarahani? The four-time All-Star Sarahani stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Beijing up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Sarahani said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
