The Rio de Janeiro Jaguars defeated the Santo Domingo Palmchats, 5-3, in Americas Baseball League action at Estadio Santo Domingo. Rio de Janeiro pitcher Murtadi bin Jabbar had a standout performance. Rio de Janeiro reliever Jhong-shun Lee snagged the win, upping his record to 8-8. Johannes Nieminen shouldered the loss. Luis Gutiérrez was called on to finish, recording his 28th save.

Rio de Janeiro used the clutch hitting of Lich Huynh to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Jaguars ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

Rio de Janeiro manager Echo 127 was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.

Rio de Janeiro, at 62-49, holds down second place in the Americas Baseball League Latin American Division.
