The Daegu Monks locked up a win at Monks Stadium, knocking off the Beijing Emperors, 6-5. On the mound for Daegu was right-hander Dave Dougherty. He played a major role in the triumph. The Monks raised their record to 44-73.

Had Manuel Ramírez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ramírez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Monks.

"Dave set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Daegu manager R Beadle.
