The Puerto Rico Coqui rode a solid performance from 35-year-old starting pitcher Wendel Lippelt to a win, beating the Chicago Beefs, 3-2, at Ballpark of San Juan. Chong-sik Kyung, credited with the win in relief, is now 5-5. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The Coqui have now won 5 straight.

Puerto Rico got a knockout punch from Karim Garcia. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Coqui manager Kir By.
