Late Rally by Generals Locks Up 3-0 Win
|
Carlos Rúbio, who led the IBL in wins with 17 in 2145, was locked in. The left-hander led the Rome Generals to a 3-0 win against the Black Forest Foxes at The Den. The Generals improved their record to 54-64 by beating Black Forest.
Luys Pegas, who finished 5th in the IBL in wins above replacement with 5.5 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Pegas contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Rome up, 1-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Rúbio told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
