The 6-2 Detroit win over Chicago was due in large part to Conz Kubel. The Blue Gills center fielder was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Allahditta Razavi snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 3-3 on the season. The win gives the Blue Gills a record of 34-87.

Had Kubel not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Kubel hit a 2-run single. The Blue Gills took the lead, 3-2, and never looked back.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Detroit manager Detroit Dave.
