Daegu turned a fine outing from starter Dave Dougherty into a victory over the Melbourne Meteors at Monks Stadium. The final score was 2-0. The winning pitcher was Dougherty, now 7-4. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Mehari Youssef converted his 11th save in 15 tries.

The Monks got a big at-bat from catcher Mario González. For the game, González was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Daegu a 2-0 lead.

"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Dougherty.

The victory puts Daegu at 46-76.
