The Chicago Beefs picked up a win at Beefs Stadium, dropping the Los Angeles Stars, 5-4. Yoshitoshi Murata, who is a two-time All-Star, was the difference-maker. Thomas Charbonnier, now 4-3, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. Tiljad Mbizi was credited with the save for Chicago, his 29th of the season.

Chicago took a 5-4 lead on Boboy Gines's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Gines hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher Tom Davis visibly frustrated.

"Yoshitoshi had good arm action, good stuff," said Chicago manager Dill On.

The Stars, now 53-72, have lost 5 in a row.
