Havana beat Puerto Rico at El Estadio Latinoamericano, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to left fielder Shafiq Joyo. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. Yoshifusa Hasegawa, the winner, improved to 7-11. He held the Coqui to 5 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The first-place Dolphins have won 4 straight.

Raúl Carranza's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Havana. Coming to bat with one out, a runner on 3rd and Havana trailing 5-4, the second baseman reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Joyo told the Havana News.
