The Melbourne Meteors beat the Beijing Emperors, 4-2, at Meteor Crater. The win was due in part to left fielder Josh Bence, who was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Byron Williams, who is tied for 6th in the IBL in holds with 11, was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-1. The losing pitcher was Kumar Lata. The Meteors improved their record to 65-64 with the win over Beijing.

Bence had a timely hit for Melbourne in the bottom of the eighth. With Melbourne trailing 2-1, he turned a 3-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Melbourne.

Bence called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
