6-4 Win Gets Beijing to 26-14
|
The performance of Berde Lund proved critical in helping Beijing beat Tokyo, 6-4. The Emperors center fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Beijing reliever Kumar Lata, now 3-0. The loser was Sirak Angosisye. Gia-Long Hoang earned save number 4 this season.
Lund had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Sirak Angosisye, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Emperors a 6-4 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Lund.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Lund. "You've got to get results."
The first-place Emperors sport a record of 26-14.
