The performance of Jesús Sosa proved critical in helping Los Angeles beat Sao Paulo, 7-6. The Stars third baseman was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Los Angeles, now 56-75, holds down 4th place in the Americas Baseball League North American Division.
Sosa had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-2 fastball from Anthony Dalton, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Stars a 7-6 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for Sosa.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Sao Paulo manager Casey Blake DeWitt. "But we decided not to take it."
