Dolphins Upend Palmchats, 5-1
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Havana-Santo Domingo ballgame.
The Havana Dolphins downed the Santo Domingo Palmchats, 5-1, at Estadio Santo Domingo. Stellar pitching by Jorge Marrero had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 7th in the ABL in quality starts with 17, handcuffed his opponent all game. Marrero picked up the win for Havana, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 14-6.
Havana used a clutch at-bat from Jacky Blondel to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dolphins ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Jorge -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Dolphins manager Dan Farnell. "He was the key to us winning."
The first-place Dolphins are 76-56.
